WHAT TO BRING:

  • Sturdy walking shoes (Teva® style sandals are great for canoeing)
  • 1-1.5 Ltr water bottle – we carry fresh drinking water so you can top up.
  • Wide brimmed hat and long sleeves (sun protection)
  • Swimming gear & sunscreen (swim shirt is a better option for swimming and won’t pollute the aquatic ecosystems)
  • Camera – remember to charge your batteries before you leave
  • Insect repellent (Long sleeved loose fitting clothes are also a great option)
  • Luggage is restricted to 15kg per person – Please bring small soft airline carry-on size bag

FITNESS

  • A good level of fitness and agility is required to participate in this tour.
  • Hikes between 3-9 km’s on uneven terrain in hot remote areas.
  • This tour is designed for the fit and active.

ACCOMMODATION

  • Managed Camping Area: Showers and toilets. Sleeping in swags, tents must be erected.
  • Private Camping: Showers and toilets. 240 power available. Sleeping in swags, tents must be erected.
  • Bush Camping: No facilities. Sleeping in swags, tents must be erected.

VEHICLE AND CAMP TRAILER

  • Luxury Toyota 200 Series Landcruiser
  • Due to very limited luggage storage space in the camp trailer, luggage is restricted to 15kg per person -Please bring small travel soft bag.

DAY 1 – DARWIN TO KAKADU NATIONAL PARK

  • Pick up Darwin CBD 6.30am.
  • We start the day at Fogg Dam, this special place, known for its diversity of habitat, wildlife and a great place to view some of the fantastic birds the Top End of Australia has to offer.
  • we visit Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock), one of the significant Aboriginal rock art sites in Kakadu.
    Here you can learn how Aboriginal people lived in this area through changing times. Environmental and social changes are reflected in the rock art and in the ground, where archaeologists have uncovered over 20,000 years of Aboriginal occupation.
  • After lunch we head to Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, this centre developed by the local Bininj and Mungguy of the area provides you with detailed information about Aboriginal culture in Kakadu and Arnhemland.
    Finish the day with a sunset cruise on Yellow waters; spend the next 2 hours exploring the world-famous Yellow Waters wetlands systems. Climb to the top of Ubirr, where you get amazing panoramic views of the massive floodplains and Stone country of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.
  • Tonight’s accommodation – Cooinda Lodge (Dinner at own expense) (L)

DAY 2 – KAKADU NATIONAL PARK TO NITMILUK NATIONAL PARK

  • After Breakfast, we head down to the southern end of Kakadu to the beginning of the Yurmikmik walks.
    The walk follows a historic vehicle track through open savannah country. At the end of the walk, you are rewarded with a swim in the secluded Motor Car Falls at the base of the Arnhem land plateau.
  • After lunch, we visit the restricted access area of Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole) this secluded spring-fed waterfall is an excellent place for a swim before we make our way south to the town Katherine.
  • Tonight’s accommodation-Knott Crossing Resort. (BL) Dinner at own expence

DAY 3 – NITMILUK NATIONAL PARK (KATHERINE GORGE AND EDITH FALLS)

  • After breakfast and packing up camp, you board the Nit Nit Dreaming Two Gorge Cruise.
    This scenic boat journey takes you through the first two and longest gorges of Nitmiluk. On this cruise, your guide will share their knowledge about plants, animals, Dreamtime stories and culture of the area, all while travelling between the towering sandstone cliffs etched out from the Arnhem land plateau over almost 2 billion years ago by the now Katherine River.
  • After lunch, we head towards Leliyn,(Edith Falls). This beautiful waterfall is also in Nitmiluk National Park. Once there, you can sit back and take in the natural beauty of the area.
  • Tonights Accommodation – Mt Bundy Station. (BL) Dinner at own expence

DAY 4 – LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK

  • Our last day will be travelling through and absorbing the beauty of Litchfield National Park. Our first stop for the day will be to Wangi Falls for a morning swim; this is the largest of the swimming holes we will visit for the day.
  • Next, we back up on top of the Table Top Range to find a shady spot for a bite to eat. After lunch, we drive over to view Florence Falls from the decking on top of the escarpment, great place for a photo looking down to the waterfall and pool below.
  • Our last swim for the day is at Buley Rockhole, at these cascading pools you can move from pool to pool or pick one and relax there.
  • The last stop for the day is a visit to see the world-famous Magnetic Termite Mounds. After exploring Litchfield, it’s only a short drive back to Darwin. (BL)
