4 Day Accommodated Tour of Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield National Parks

Explore Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield National Parks on a private accommodated tour.

Departing from darwin, you can explore Litchfield, Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park in comfort, on this private accommodated 4-day tour with a maximum of four guests.

This 4 day tour is designed to get the most out of the areas we visit, with the comforts of motel accommodation at the end of the day.

You will be accompanied by a local accredited tour guide, who is experienced, passionate and eager to share his insights into the flora, fauna, history and culture of the areas you traverse; you’ll enjoy the best the Top End has to offer at this time of year: amazing scenery, great walks, swimming spots and unique wildlife.

WHAT TO BRING:

    • Sturdy walking shoes
    • 0.5-1 Ltr water bottle – we carry fresh drinking water so you can top up.
    • Wide brimmed hat and long sleeves (sun protection)
    • Swimming gear & sunscreen (swim shirt is a better option for swimming and won’t pollute the aquatic ecosystems)
    • Luggage is restricted to 15kg per person – Please bring small soft airline carry-on size bag

DAY 1 – DARWIN TO KAKADU NATIONAL PARK

  • Pick up Darwin CBD 8.00am.
  • In Kakadu, we visit Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock) and the Anbangbang shelter. In this shelter, you can learn about the local creation ancestors painted on the walls and the stories behind the artists who created one of the last significant paintings in the area. After a short walk to the Kunwarddewardde Lookout, you can see where the stories tie into the surrounding landscapes.
  • After lunch we head to Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, this centre developed by the local Bininj and Mungguy of the area provides you with detailed information about Aboriginal culture in Kakadu and Arnhemland.
    Finish the day with a sunset cruise on Yellow waters; spend the next 2 hours exploring the world-famous Yellow Waters wetlands systems.

DAY 2 – KAKADU NATIONAL PARK

  • After Breakfast, we head down to the southern end of Kakadu to the beginning of the Yurmikmik walks.
    This walk follows a historic vehicle track through open savannah country. At the end of the walk, you are rewarded with a swim in the secluded Motor Car Falls at the base of the Arnhem land plateau.
  • After lunch, we visit the restricted access area of Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole) this spring-fed waterfall is an excellent place for a swim before we make our way south to the town Katherine.
  • Motel accommodation – (B,L) (Dinner at own expence)

DAY 3 – NITMILUK NATIONAL PARK (KATHERINE GORGE AND EDITH FALLS)

  • This morning, we drive to Nitmiluk National Park to board the Nit Nit Dreaming Two Gorge Cruise.
    This scenic boat journey takes you through the first two and longest gorges of Nitmiluk. On this cruise, your guide will share their knowledge about plants, animals, Dreamtime stories and the culture of the area, all while travelling between the towering sandstone cliffs etched out from the Arnhem land plateau over almost 2 billion years ago by the now Katherine River.
  • After lunch, we head towards Leliyn,(Edith Falls). This beautiful waterfall is also in Nitmiluk National Park. Once there, you can sit back and take in the natural beauty of the area.

DAY 4 – LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK

  • Our last day will be spent travelling through and absorbing the beauty of Litchfield National Park.
  • This area is known for its impressive waterfalls, plunge pools, cascading creeks and the world-famous Magnetic Termite Mounds.
  • Here you can relax, swim under a spring-feed waterfall or unwind in a cascading waterhole.
  • After exploring Litchfield, it’s only a short drive back to Darwin. (BL)

Please note that seasonal closures might affect some areas, in this case, alternate areas will be used.

This has to be one of the best starts to exploring Ubirr ever.
We got to watch this Joey, Wilkins` Rock Wallaby, having a bit brekky, while Mum and Dad were hanging off to the side.
